Four easy tips for slower living.

Every day we make small choices that can have an impact on our environment.

Sustainable living shouldn't feel overwhelming so we’ve created a list of easy go tos for making your day to day a little bit more eco-friendly. There are so many ways to do your bit for the planet in your every day life, but we just wanted to create a short but sweet list that anyone can use.

1. Shopping locally

Go to farmers markets or support your local farmers - it’s so nice to be able to visit the farm where your food is actually grown. Why not order a local, organic veg box with fresh produce, that can sometimes be delivered straight to your home, which make it really easy if you’re on the go plus you know the vegetables and fruit were grown locally.

2. Going plastic free

Opting for a reusable bag is an obvious choice but a good one, plus it saves money rather than getting yet another plastic bag. Swapping your coffee cups for a reusable one or a thermos to avoid single-use cups when you buy takeaway drinks. Buying a a reusable straw -  I got this one, which you can easily carry around in your bag. For packed lunches using glass food containers, metal caddies or re-used glass jars to transport food are great. Storing leftovers using beeswax wrappers and glass containers  keeps food fresh without any unnecessary waste.

3. Buying secondhand

Whether it’s your clothes or home decor, buying preloved is a fantastic way to do your shopping! It reduces your carbon footprint and gives items a second life rather than them ending up in landfill. Check out our vintage collection here.

4. Zero Waste

Whether that’s beauty products, food shopping or even water, waste not want not is definitely the mindset.

There are many beauty brands or sites that offer refillable beauty products for skin care, make-up or hair care. Here are some of the wonderful options available: Cult BeautyOuai Hair, Tata Harper produce refill pods. L’Occitane have a refill collection and even refill fountains.

In the UK there’s an app you can use to find the nearest refill station for your water bottle.

There are several food apps that help you to explore shops and restaurants in your local area and save surplus food from going to waste at a great price, like Too Good to Go (in the UK) or Karma (based in the UK, Sweden and France). A third of the world’s food goes to waste so these are really positive solutions!
