Golden Flapjack Recipe
Flapjacks are perfect for snacking on-the-go or for a sweet treat at the end of the day. This buttery sweet snack is delicious at any time of the year. Whether they’re soft and chewy or crunchy, flapjacks are always a classic. This golden flapjack recipe is super simple. It has only four ingredients and is ready in less than 30 minutes. It’s a completely foolproof recipe, especially if you’re on the go. They’re great to grab and keep in your bag so you can enjoy throughout the day.
If you want the flapjacks to be extra soft and chewy, I would recommend using rolled oats. You can also add dried fruit and nuts if you want some additional flavour. One variation I love is adding some cranberries to give them that extra bit of sweetness. During the colder months I sometimes add a dash of cinnamon just to give an extra warm flavour. They can be stored for up to 10 days in an airtight container.
Ingredients
250g rolled oats or porridge oats
125g butter plus extra to grease the tin
125g brown sugar
2-3 tbsp golden syrup
Instructions:
Set the oven to 180C fan, mix the oats, butter, sugar and golden syrup in a bowl (you can use a food processor too). I sometimes add a pinch of salt, just to enhance the flavour. Use some of the leftover butter to line the baking dish (I use one that’s 20cm square), then add the mixture. Press the mixture flat so that the texture is all even. Place in the oven for around 20 minutes until the flapjacks turn a nice golden brown - you can leave them in longer if you want them to be a bit crispy. Cut into pieces and leave in the tin until almost cold.
They’re ready to enjoy during your day!
