Creating the Perfect Autumn Flower Arrangement
Autumn is all about starting up those fireplaces again, cosying up with a good book, chai lattes, seeing the leaves turn into golden hues, watching a Diane Keaton film. An autumn floral centrepiece is probably the one that makes the most striking statement out of all the seasons. It’s amazing how adding flowers can immediately transform a room and bring it to life. Autumn colours, such as burgundy reds, crimson, earthy browns, plum, amber yellows and burnt oranges, are the ideal tones for a flower arrangement that will be sure to fill your home with richness and warmth.
When creating an arrangement, it’s all about layering and texture. Don’t limit the arrangement to just flowers; twigs, greenery and branches are the perfect additions to a floral display. Varying the height of the flowers can create a wonderful framework for the arrangement and make each stem stand out. You should include greenery, focal flowers, secondary flowers and filler stems in your creation. I find that adding a hint of green really helps to give a subdued feel, while a sprinkle of baby’s breath or cow parsley brings a refreshing touch to the autumnal colours.
CARE TIP: To make the arrangement last longer; change the water and recut the stems after a few days. Cut them at a slanted angle (this helps the flowers absorb water better).
We hope this will inspire your next floral arrangement!
